Overview

This course challenges students academically, mentally, and physically, and meets the standards of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1001-2019 and HAZMAT/WMD awareness/operations, providing the opportunity to obtain Firefighter I and II certifications.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for First Responders

Course Details

Firefighting I (Semester 1)

Firefighting 2 (Semester 2)

Course Length: 1 year

Students must be at least 16 years old before the first day of class.

Students must have a physical exam completed by August 1st on the NHREC Physical Form.


Schedule

  • AM VCTC schedule
  • Year-long course for 2026-2027
  • Mandatory training sessions outside of the school day to meet certification requirements
