The Practical Nursing program is an 18-month program that begins in August of each year. The program calendar generally coincides with the Augusta County Public Schools student calendar. Our first-year students have classes from August through June. The second-year students have classes from August through April of their final year. See our schedule for more details.
ADMISSIONS
Our admission process begins in January of each year for the class beginning in the fall of the same year. The VCTC Practical Nursing Program is a selective application-based program limited to 25 students each fall. Based on the number of qualified applicants yearly, the program may be able to reserve a select number of seats for qualified accelerated June applicants who have learned that they have not been accepted into local RN programs for the fall. These applicants will have an opportunity to apply between June 1st and June 15th.
Step by Step Guide for Applying to the Nursing Program
1. Attend an information session at VCTC.
2. Apply online using this link. Applications are open until Friday, April 19, 2024.
3. Submit required essay (part of application) to [email protected]
4. Visit ATItesting.com to create an account. Save your username and password. Our program name can be found on the ATI site listed as VCTC Practical Nursing. Use these directions to create an account.
5. Register for the VCTC in-person ATI TEAS nursing entrance exam using this link. The fee for this exam is $75.00. Exam dates are Saturday, April 6th at 11:00 AM or Thursday, April 11th at 12:00 PM (this is the FINAL test date).
6. Request an official copy of your high school transcripts or GED transcripts and have them sent to [email protected]
7. Provide a copy of all college transcripts (these do not need to be “official”). Send transcripts to [email protected].
8. Contact the Augusta County Public Schools Personnel Office at 540-245-5100 to schedule a background check. There is a $37.00 fee for this service. Be sure to tell them you are a VCTC Practical Nursing Program Applicant.
9. Provide current employment resume. Send resume to [email protected]
10. Prepare for an interview with nursing program faculty members.
